203- NO Wine in grocery stores! TN

video
Tennessee is debating getting wine in grocery stores. I give my opinions (with a few facts) of why I think that is a BAD decision.

You are making the most ludicrous assumptions and statements! Half of your arguments don't even make sense. Teens are always going to find a way to get alcohol, no matter the accessibility. Drunks are going to find a way to get alcohol. The biggest point to make is this - if you can get beer at a grocery store, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to also get wine.

I'm assuming you addressed the parts that "don't make sense" to you, which I can therefore say that Teens and Drunk WILL find a way to get alcohol, you are absolutely right, but there is no reason for us to go make it easier for them. Wine stores dramatically lower the chances of that happening. As for your "biggest point", I'm sorry you feel that way. I use to think the same thing, but then I worked in a liquor/ Wine store and saw how many people we probably saved by not selling them any more alcohol and it changed my mind on the whole topic. I know it's probably tough for you to understand this, because you just want to buy alcohol at the most convenient place possible, but there's a larger picture to look at here.
It's good to hear your opinion though.
Thanks for watching.

Joe - I Just came across your blog today and really enjoyed it...until I got to this fallacy filled rant. I can provide several examples if you would like. Additionally, your comments on direct shipping make some good points about the wine being out of your control, but you do not mention that without direct shipping you are at the mercy of the distributors. You only have access to the wines that they decide you should have. (how is this any different than the arguement you make about grocery stores?) This does not seem like a good deal for consumers, as there are several smaller wineries that produce great wine that you will never have access to if you must get your wines through a distributor. Your comments make it seem that you have some ties to the liquor/distributor lobby which could damage your credibility. I hope that in future posts you will focus on the wine and avoid the politics.
